Effie Pendo is an active, hardworking, bright 8 year old girl.  Recently Effie's father, who was the bread winner of the family, passed away which has caused financial hardship for her family and the loss of their home.  Effie's mother is doing all she can to find work to support her family, but is struggling to provide school fees and basic needs for Effie and her sisters.
